Introduction
Ondo State Government in its effort to revamp Education and improve the welfare of her students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria gives a very high premium to Scholarship/Bursary Scheme.
It is the policy of the state Government to make higher education more accessible to qualified indigenes of the state in tertiary institutions.
It is also the conviction of the Government that greater accessibility to higher education will accelerate the development of high level manpower in relevant fields of specialization for rapid economic, scientific and technological development of our Sunshine State in the current millennium.
To disburse bursary to students of Ondo State origin in all recognized tertiary institutions in Nigeria;
To award Scholarships to students of Ondo State origin in approved Tertiary Institutions within Nigeria;
To give financial assistance to students of Ondo State origin in Nigerian Law Schools;
To give financial assistance to medical students of Ondo State origin (already on clinical studies);
To give financial assistance to the Physically Challenged students who are indigenes of Ondo State in recognized tertiary institutions within Nigeria;
To liase with other corporate bodies awarding scholarships to students in tertiary institutions both within and outside Nigeria, e.g., Chevron Oil (Agbami Scholarship to Medical and Engineering students of Ondo State origin);
To attend meetings of Secretaries of States Scholarship Boards and Registrars of Tertiary Institutions with the Secretary, Federal Scholarship Board, on the result of selection interviews for Federal Government Scholarship Awards;
The Board serves as the center for the South West Zone selection interview of beneficiaries of Annual Federal/Foreign Scholarship Programs, otherwise known as Bilateral Education Agreement (B.E.A). Apppcation forms in respect of Commonwealth and BEA Overseas Awards are usually accessed directly by the apppcants through the Federal Scholarship Board’s website: www.fsbnigeria.org. The interview is usually conducted within the first quarter of the year;
The Board also serves as the center for the selection of beneficiaries of the Nigerian Scholarships Awards given by the Federal Government to students of Ondo State origin in Tertiary Institutions in the Country.
